10 Books to Form the Christian Mind

Last week, ‘The Chosen’ was promoted via Vortex which is a crowd funded tv series that depicts the life and times of Jesus Christ. This week we look at another blessing which is lifelong learning through reading. The ability to read often is a pleasure that should not be avoided. As CS Lewis stated “We read to know that we’re not alone.” A good book can provide so much to our mindset, our attitude and our understanding of the world. It can assist in forming connections with ideas and making correlations with situations and people. As a result this can help us to navigate questions and challenges that we face daily. A bible quote that is very well known is “Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. An addition to this respectfully, could be “Be still and read about God”. Comprehending the Christian faith is a life giving mystery that requires a deep commitment. Our willingness to be open to learn and continually develop a deeper relationship with our Lord can help arm ourselves with virtue. This ongoing formation enables us to become Missionary Disciples in our attempt to bring the richness of our faith to all that we meet. I pray that these book recommendations may lead you to discover a book that helps you understand the faith. I pray that you ask more questions of what faith is for you. I pray that you intentionally look for ways to become closer to God. “I prayed, and understanding was given me: I entreated and the spirit of wisdom came to me.” Wisdom 7:7
