Boys get to experience Eddies for the day

Following on from the success of the Experience Eddies Day we held earlier in the year, we held a second day on Monday, 27 August. With Woodwork, Digital Technology, Food Technology and Science on offer we were joined by some very excited young men for four lessons, lunch and a tour at the end.

During Woodwork students sandpapered, designed, drilled and constructed small toys that they took home with them. Digital Technology included programming their own flappy bird game, playing with robots and experimenting with Virtual Reality as well as Augmented Reality. Food Technology was in the Commercial Kitchen facilities where the boys got to make Yum Yum Balls from scratch. Last but not least, Science was all about forces and friction including 3 experiments that were eye-opening and fun – it included pushing a skewer through a balloon without making it pop, creating friction between two exercise books that made them physically impossible to separate and placing rice in a container then using a pencil to lift it up.

We finished the day with a tour of the College accompanied by the boys and their families. We look forward to welcoming a lot of these boys to the College next year (and some even in the coming months).

We continue to enrol students for 2019. More information can be found at https://sec.act.edu.au/enrolments/
