Camps and Retreats Week 2018

Week 3 was a massive week for the High School as 6 House Camps, 2 Retreats and a school-based study and leadership program took place, all at the same time. What was a major logistical feat ran relatively smoothly thanks to the planning of the Pastoral Care and Mission teams and the support of the fabulous administration staff at the College. 14 buses took off on Wednesday morning, taking students to Tuross, Tarthra, Bowral, Pambula, Jindabyne and closer to home at Tharwa.

The goals of camps and retreats include progress about self-knowledge, character development, interpersonal skills, skill development, spiritual values, physical fitness and health, group work and of course, positive experiences for students – such as having fun, being treated as an individual, and feeling cared for.

The students of O’Brien House had a wonderful time at The Pines at Tuross and benefited from having camp in a location filled with much College history and memory. Over the 10 years of the House system, we have developed our own camp traditions specific to each House and the O’Brien boys took great pride in continuing our traditions this year.

Feedback about the camps and retreats week was sought from students via a survey, accessed through their House Canvas pages. Similarly, Heads of House emailed a link to the parent survey last week. This feedback is really important to us so please do click on the link and fill out the survey as best as you are able to.
