Harmony Day #EveryoneBelongs
Friday, week 7, St Edmund’s celebrated Harmony Day. A day for our whole College community to come together, embrace our cultural diversity, and promote inclusiveness and respect.
For the day, the college was asked to wear either their cultural clothes or the Harmony Day colour of orange. The day was an amazing sight; the display of cultural diversity on show throughout the college was something to behold. Many college students were proudly displaying their culture through their dress. While others represented their culture through their favourite sports teams’ jerseys. The amount of orange around the school would only be seconded by a worksite.
Lunch time was a multi-cultural food market with an array of food choices from a wide range of cultures. A great way for everyone to taste and experience other cultures’ foods from the inside of our St Edmund’s community.
The community truly came together to support our college Lenten fundraising appeal for Caritas. The houses competing to see which can raise the most amount of money through gold coin donations. Thankfully, the great Rice House was able to prevail and had the biggest collective donation, not only supporting the community but also earning themselves 30 house points.
Overall, the whole day was a great experience and opportunity for the whole college to come together and embrace our cultural diversity and promote inclusion.
