Captains Corner – Congratulations on capacity

This week was the week everyone had been waiting for, all students were back at school, right from Year 4 to Year 12. The school was once again bustling with chit chat and laughter. All Year 7’s, 8’s, 9’s and 10’s were welcomed back into the school for face to face learning and it was a highly anticipated moment for both teachers and students. Tutor groups were once again filled, and stories of the quarantine time period flowed like hand sanitizer and disinfectant. The boys have had to adjust to the new routine like disinfecting tables at the end of every single lesson, the Covid canteen line which distances boys waiting and finally the hardest challenge of all not being able to eat at any time during class. Following quarantine students have come back with an appreciation for school and their privilege to have such dedicated teachers. The presentation of uniforms has been fantastic as boys are forced to get changed in the morning because they are unable to go to school in their pajamas for some unbeknownst reason. Teachers have been able to once again been able to ask questions whilst receiving an instantaneous answer. Lessons such as P.E, wood work, and food science have been able to return to their previous capacity and are a much welcomed change for all staff. The kitchen stoves were fired up after a long-anticipated wait.

I must thank the community for making all of this possible. Our dedication to social distancing and isolation has paid off and we are finally able to resume in normal life to an extent. I know online learning was a challenge for both students but also parents who have ben proactive in keeping their sons on task. As a result of the student’s dedication to online schooling they have been able to resume class with the knowledge of the content and background knowledge. The transition back to face to face learning in its entire capacity was much anticipated and we were not disappointed.
