Captain’s Corner – Treacy House

To the parents, students and members of our wider community,

As Week 7 arrives, students are well underway with many aspects of St Edmund’s College life, including academic studies, assessment items, Father’s Day Mass, charity focus and sporting finals.

Although the end of Term 3 is near, students are encouraged to continue their hard work and efforts in all assessment items and academic studies in order to finish off the Term as well as it was started. Year 12 have recently been preparing for AST exams which begin on the Tuesday of Week 8. Good luck to all of Year 12 for this important examination.

On Friday 2nd of September, St Edmund’s are holding their annual Father’s Day Mass. Many students from across the school have been working hard for this special event, preparing a range of agenda items to show their appreciation to their fathers. As always, the Mass should be a very special event and I’m sure the fathers of the college community will love it!

With the sleep out just around the corner, students continue to focus on our College charities for this term. The St Edmund’s community continue to raise money for HOME in Queanbeyan and Karinya House as a way of giving back to those in need. I hope all students get involved in some way to support the charities, whether that be taking part in the sleep out, sponsoring someone else doing the sleep out or donating some of their pocket money to the charities.

It has been a big season of sports around the college and it is fantastic to see so many St Edmund’s sporting teams making finals. The First XV are heading into Grand Finals this weekend after a great win against Daramalan College last week. The First XI football team have their Semi Finals this weekend and the First V basketball team are continuing their good form with their last couple of games before finals. Good luck to all teams involved in finals and hopefully we can bring home some silverware.

Edmund’s to the Fore.
