Care for our home

As you know plastic bottles, glass bottles and aluminium cans can be recycled and turned into things we use every day.

But why do we recycle? Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live.

Recycling can help reduce harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses which are released from rubbish tips.

Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste and keeps our water ways clean. New things can be made from the bottles, cans and cartons that we recycle.

Pope Francis also encourages us to be instruments of God who care for creation.  We are called to be stewards who are mindful of using and consuming natural resources responsibly.

  • A plastic bottle can be turned into a puffer jacket
  • A aluminium can be turned into more cans
  • A juice box or milk cartons can be turned into cardboard boxes, rolls of paper and toilet paper.

If you are in the quad please only place items to be recycled in these bins and rubbish in the non-house coloured and labelled bins.

The items to be recycled will be taken to the recycle depot and the money credited to the school account to be put towards making our school surrounding better.  Since July 16th 2019, we as a school have recycled 11,589 bottles and as a result have raised $1159.90. This is a small effort made by our students and staff though, “if we do enough small things right, big things will happen.”
