Captain’s Corner: Term 4, Week 4, 2022

With exam week fast approaching the Year 12’s time at the college is coming to an end. During this time it’s important that we take time to reflect on our time at the College. We’re all extremely grateful for the opportunities that was provided by the school, such as the many carnivals, camps/retreats and day-to-day activities. As we enter our Rite of Passage week and the end of our schooling journey, I invite all members of our community but particularly the ‘old boys’ to welcome us into the adult world. During our Rite of Passage week, we will be participating in numerous events such as a breakfast hosted by the ‘Old Boys and Friends Association’ and a lunch with our partners across the road at St Clare’s College.

The school has come together in Term 4, to raise funds and awareness for the St Vincent’s Christmas Hamper Appeal. Each tutor group will be contributing to the appeal by donating food items/toys, as well as participating in various activities throughout the final term of 2022. The senior school and teachers have come together to partake in the ‘Movember’ initiative, by growing their mo’s for men’s mental health. This was particularly important for the school, to show all students the importance of men’s mental health and reaching out if you need help. The college has come together to embrace this campaign, by participating in various activities such as a plank challenge, a trivia and an artwork competition. From this combined effort, the school has raised over $2500, a tremendous achievement.

However as we leave, I’d like to shed light onto the future of our college, with the 2023 school and house captains being announced at a recent school assembly. With Deveraux Tapelu , Liuaki Percival, Damien Jelfs-Smith and Hamish Chapman leading the way, I can assure you all that the school is in safe hands for the future. Through their leadership they will contribute to furthering the betterment of the school. Class of 2023, I wish you all the best for your last year at St Edmund’s College, and remember, Edmund’s to the Fore.
