At our school, community is more than just a word—it’s a living expression of care, gratitude, and shared purpose. This term, we have the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the people who have helped shape our community through key events: ANZAC Day, Mother’s Day, and Founders Day.
On ANZAC Day, we paused to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who have served in wars and conflicts. Across the college grounds, students and staff gathered in reverence, laying wreaths and sharing words of reflection. It was a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were made possible by the brave individuals who came before us, and it deepened our appreciation for the values of courage, mate ship, and resilience.
In the lead-up to Mother’s Day we will be holding a special Mother’s Day Mass and Morning Tea on May 9. This event is a heartfelt opportunity for our community to come together to recognise and thank the mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers in our community for their love, strength, and unwavering support. Mother’s Day is a special chance for students to express their gratitude—through cards, gifts, kind words, or even just a warm hug. Whether it’s packing lunchboxes, helping with homework, or simply being there when we need them most, our mums and carers are true everyday heroes.
Looking ahead to Founders Day on May 16, we will celebrate the life and legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice, whose vision for inclusive and compassionate education laid the foundations for our school. His commitment to justice, faith, and service continues to inspire the way we learn, lead, and support one another. Founders Day is more than just a moment in the calendar—it’s an opportunity to reflect on our shared values and the responsibility we each have in continuing Edmund’s mission in our own lives.
Together, these events help us celebrate what makes our community strong: remembrance, gratitude, and a shared commitment to making a difference. As we honour the past and recognise those around us, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, service, and connection in our everyday school life.
