Christmas Ideas and Mission Notices

Photo taken December 2020

What will be different this Christmas? Some ideas that you might like to participate in with your family and friends are listed below. It is a special time of year and presents a wonderful opportunity to share Christs birth with others. At front reception we have placed our Nativity scene under our Christmas tree and have our Vinnies Christmas Hampers ready for generous donations. A special thank you to all the families that assisted with a gold coin donation for last Friday’s Vinnies mufti day and for those who donated food products. We still have a few weeks for this initiative, any support is appreciated.

NATIVITY SCENE & HOLY FAMILY SETS

Buy or make a Nativity scene for the home. Celebrate Christmas by including a reminder of the real reason for Christmas, Christ Jesus. A Nativity scene is a reminder that Jesus was born on Christmas Day to save us. He was born in a stable surrounded by animals. Shepherds and Kings followed a bright shining star that shone above the place where Jesus was born to bring gifts and worship him. The Angel watched over them all. Nativity sets a great way to tell the story of Christmas to children.

JESSE TREE—

Have you ever completed a Jesse Tree as a family in the lead up to Christmas? The Jesse Tree tradition is a beautiful way to reflectively prepare for the birth of Jesus with your family. Each day of advent you have a new ornament that represents someone from the Old Testament what was an ancestor of Jesus, starting from Adam. The PDF resource to do it at home with your own family is linked above.
