Basketball started at St Edmund’s in the early 1980’s and was offered as a summer sport. In 1998 Basketball became an all year sport with St Edmund’s entering teams in the Championship season (winter) and the challenge season (summer).
The Challenge Season starts in Term 4 and finishes in Term 1 and the Championship Season starts in Term 2 and finishes in Term 3. All teams play in the local ACT Basketball competitions held at Tuggeranong and Belconnen Basketball Stadiums.
At St Edmund’s, we aim to provide an effective and supportive basketball program so that students can participate in all aspects of basketball while developing their skills and interest for the game in a safe and enjoyable environment. We field teams across all ages and divisions, catering for all levels of players.
Since 2009 St Edmund’s Basketball has travelled to the USA every two years. This is open to every student who plays basketball for the college and provides an opportunity to experience the culture on and off the court in the home of basketball.
