Community Kitchen Garden Project

Have you ever wondered what we do with our senior students at the end of the year, once they have finished all of their assessment items and are waiting for exam week to begin?

This year I sourced some old hardwood pallets that were headed for landfill and my senior Timber Construction class built a raised vegetable gardening bed and a vertical gardening frame. We have donated them to two local primary schools and they will be used next year for their kitchen garden programs.

As a teacher I loved that we could turn old pallets into useful projects, do our bit for the environment, we had the chance to learn a few new skills and it kept the boys busy for a week.
