“I can do all things,
through Christ who strengthened us.”
Our scriptural theme for this year is a very appropriate especially in light of the weekend’s tragic shootings in Christchurch. At the end of recess today the College came together and prayed for the victims of this attack. It is difficult to process these events and as a Catholic school our response to this is coming together, knowing that we are supported by each other and the community that is St Edmund’s and through the ever giving power of prayer. We pray for all the people that have been impacted in some way by this event and hope that much needed healing occurs through Christ’s love and mercy.

Message from Bishop Paul Martin
We are horrified at the violence that has been inflicted on people of our city this afternoon. Words cannot convey our distress. Our prayers are with those who are suffering. I invite you now, wherever you are, alone or with family, workmates or friends, to pray together in the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:
Make the sign of our Faith (sign of the cross)
Lord, make us instruments of your peace:
where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master,
grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Blessed Edmund Rice
