Pilgrims of Hope: Living the Jubilee Year at St Edmund’s College
In 2025, the Catholic Church celebrates a Jubilee Year with the theme Pilgrims of Hope, calling us to renewal, reconciliation, and a deeper commitment to faith in action. At St Edmund’s College, this theme challenges us to be a community that walks together in hope, fostering an education that not only informs but transforms.
As an Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) school, we are called to embrace Liberating Education, empowering students to think critically, act justly, and serve with compassion. This aligns powerfully with our Scripture theme for the year: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). True liberation in education is not just about academic success but about forming young people who approach their learning, relationships, and service with wholehearted dedication—seeing their efforts as a response to God’s call.
Being Pilgrims of Hope means striving for a world where education sets people free—free from ignorance, injustice, and indifference. It challenges us to create an environment where students and staff work not for personal gain but for the good of others, with hearts open to faith and justice.
As we journey through this Jubilee Year, may we take up the challenge to live with purpose, hope, and a deep commitment to serving one another in the spirit of Christ.
