FORMAL-ities and End of Year Functions

Last Friday 5 November our Year 12 students were fortunate enough to have many of the Covid-19 restrictions eased, which allowed them to attend their much awaited formal. With the hire cars booked, the suits approved by Year 12 fashionista, Wilson Cox and invited guests excited, we all headed to the Arboretum to enjoy the view, the food and the dancing. The student’s behavior and conduct was superb and we (the teachers) could not have been more proud of the way our Y12 2021 boys held themselves, demonstrated an extensive understanding of social etiquette and showed some fearsome moves on the dancefloor.

Following that, the students participated in a week of structured activities which we have coined as their “Right of Passage”. These involve Old Boys returning to the College to pass on their wisdom, reflective activities where students have the opportunity to show gratitude for their peers and teachers and culminated in the House Farewells. This event in particular is a special one and captures the personal journey the staff have taken with each and every one of our students during their high school and College years. By all accounts, this is an occasion that all staff and students look forward to and this year was no exception. Some of the feedback received from parents and students suggest this is “an emotional and heartwarming event where students and parents unite with the teachers to show collective pride and accomplishment”

It is with great anticipation that we look forward to celebrating the Mass, Academic assembly and Graduation Dinner with the presentation of their major awards on the 26th November, as this is another opportunity for the community to be proud and celebrate all the wonderful things so many of our boys achieve.
