Home and School and the Individuals – Together

At St Edmund’s College we devote a good deal of time establishing clear expectations and definite standards of both behaviour and academic endeavour. We want our boys and young men to show respect for their peers and their teachers and for the good name of this College.

A schools discipline policy must reflect its values and its mission. Such values and aims must always be a point of reference and a point of difference to which the school will always fall back on to substantiate its position in almost any circumstance. These must be clearly, distinctly and unapologetically succinct. This supports the school and its community to address the tensions that are associated with remaining genuine and authentic. It is also a tool to define the schools culture and charism. At St Edmund’s we are sure of our values and at times they are challenged unfairly.

Daily interactions in a classroom exude a wide variety of emotions, a myriad of interactions and a smorgasbord of networks that are both seen and unseen. Added to this of course are intersections of values, dispositions, moods, individual and group differences as well as the teacher trying to promote some type of influential direction within the context of what is often referred to as a learning environment.

At St Edmund’s College our teachers and support staff work hard to care for all of our students. We cannot do this in isolation and without your support as parents and carers. For this we are always grateful.

St Edmund’s will maintain its responsibility to provide opportunities for students to learn from mistakes that they make and your continued support is vital in ensuring that this occurs for the benefit of all members of this community.
