Hula Hooping Haydon House

Haydon House enjoyed some friendly inter-house tutor competitions during formation class Week 1.

On Wednesday 12th October Haydon House tutor groups came together for a friendly inter-house tutor competition during their formation period.  This was run in the college Gymnasium under the direction of Joel Richardson. The activities included a variety of relay races and challenges. Some of these included basketball dribbling, racing with a tennis ball under their chin, a hula hoop challenge, backward running and evening running with a dodgeball wedged between their legs. Most were demonstrated by house captain Luca Morella, which unfortunately the laughs came at his expense.

It was so nice and rewarding to have the boys come together in such an enjoyable environment where the combination of year groups were able to interact and work with one another in such a positive way. This has always been such a benefit of the vertical house system that St Edmunds College implements. The encouragement and support from the senior students toward the younger students was exceptional to see. It was also very evident that our year 12 students especially will really miss experiences like this with their final weeks of schooling remaining.

We in Haydon House pride ourselves on our brotherhood. We come together to support each other and work hard to achieve our goals. There is no denying that we are also extremely competitive, which is represented in the house point shield standings. I hope that this house bonding helps to encourage our House to finish the year strong and continue to work hard to support one another and bring home the House Champion shield at the conclusion of 2022.
