IT @ Eddies

Digital Technologies students have been very busy this semester using a range of platforms and systems to solve problems. Senior students have been creating websites, designing autonomous cars and engaging in project-based learning to create solutions for real-world problems. An example problem that Year 11 student Lachlan O’Neill is working to solve is that the College hall is simply too boring. His solution has been to design a networked virtual reality game that turns the hall into a virtual laser tag arena!

Students in Years 9 and 10 have been working with microcontrollers to solve a range of challenges while Year 7 students have been learning all about how a computer works.

Year 9/10 STEAM students have also had a busy start to the semester.  The STEAM course is new this year and it provides students with the opportunity to apply their understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths to solve problems. The problem they are currently trying to solve involves designing and building a radio telescope so they can observe the solar system and beyond!  The unit offers lots of challenges and opportunities for students to explore concepts in a great deal of depth.
