Junior School News: Week 1, Term 3, 2020

Welcome back to all families. We look forward to a productive Term 3. Yesterday Mr Zavone, along with Ms Leanne Gair (Head of Treacy House) and school leaders, Patrick MacFarlane and Sam Gibson, launched our refreshed Statement of Eddies Pride. This is essentially a reboot of our previous non-negotiables which has been framed using our student wellbeing and formation language. It also helps clarify what ‘Eddies Pride’ means for our College. Please see Sam Gibson’s Captain’s Corner article in Vortex this week for details of this launch.

Formation Program – Friday 24 July. Please note that Junior School students will be meeting with students from the High school in House groups this Friday during Formation time. The focus will be on the launch of the Spirit guide and voting on House Totems.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Tuesday 28 July: 3.30pm-7.40pm. These meetings will run after school on Tuesday next week. Please ensure you have booked using the login details emailed to you with your son’s report last term. The meetings run for 7 minutes. If you think you will need longer than this, please contact your son’s teacher to organise another day/time. Please note due to the current pandemic, we ask that only one parent from each family attend on this occasion. For these meetings there is generally no need for students to be present.

Year 5 Camp – Monday 17 – Wednesday 19 August. Please note that planned easing of restrictions for ACT schools have been postponed due to the recent spike in cases in New South Wales. Although we are very keen for this to go ahead, we will watch the situation carefully and act on advice given relating to interstate excursions.

Lost Property – Lost property generally ends up at reception so if your son is missing a jacket or tie, please encourage him to see reception to see if the item has been handed in. As always, named clothing/equipment has much more chance of finding its way back to its owner.
