Junior School News: Week 2, Term 3, 2019

This Saturday we have many football and rugby matches at the College. This is a significant day for the school and we are asking boys who plan to watch matches to wear their full school uniform. Rugby fixtures will see St Edmund’s v Marist and many old boys and families will be in attendance to enjoy the day. There will be an official opening of the new scoreboard at 2.50pm. The First XV (coached expertly by Junior School teacher, Mr Roberts) will play at 3.00pm on Owens oval. Our First XI Football team are also playing at 3.00pm so get along and enjoy the community feel of the day.  The staff are looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday. Mr Zavone will speak to all students tomorrow afternoon to remind them of behavioural expectations and sportsmanship ahead of the weekend.

Please note that as we move into the month of August, we will be enforcing our ‘no hat, no play’ once again.

Quicksmart/MacqLit – We are really happy with how our numeracy and literacy support programs are progressing. At the moment we have a few dedicated volunteers who help keep these programs running. A huge thank you to Natasha Lansom, Michelle Johnston, Jenny Spence and Josephine Kennedy. We have many students accessing programs across the Junior School and this would simply not be possible without the support and encouragement given from volunteers such as these wonderful people.

Wednesday 7 August – Year 5/6 Oztag gala carnival (selected students have been notified).

Thursday 8 August – Moderation Day. Pupil Free day.

Homework Club – Mrs Ellem will be running homework club from Weeks 2-9 this term on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. Please email her hellem@stedmunds.act.edu.au with a day’s notice should you wish to book your son/s in.
