Junior School News: Week 3, Term 2, 2019

The Mother’s day mass celebrated in the Edmund Rice Centre last Friday was a very special whole school event. To see the genuine love and affection the boys show towards their mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers is truly beautiful to witness. Thank you to all who were able to attend on Friday to share in this celebration. Fr David, our celebrant, reminded the boys to say thank you and to pray for their mums every day. He also sang a beautiful rendition of ‘Mamma’. Some of the photos taken on Friday are just brilliant. I hope all the mothers in our community were surrounded by lots of love on Sunday.

This week and next our Year 5 students are sitting their NAPLAN tests. This year the school is conducting all tests online. Testing Days are as follows:

Wed 15 May – Writing

Thurs 16 May – Reading

Tues 21 May – Language & Conventions

Wed 22 May – Numeracy

Our next Junior School Academic Assembly will be held on Friday 24 May at 11.30am in the Hall. All welcome

Da Vinci Decathlon – Congratulations to our Year 5 and Year 6 Da Vinci teams who worked their way through some tough challenges last week at Canberra Grammar School. A highlight of the day was our Year 6 team claiming 2nd spot in the Ideation competition.

Brumbies NSW Primary Schools Rugby Championships – Runner’s Up. Well done to all of the boys who competed on Mother’s Day. It was a great effort to make the final and although we didn’t come out on top we played with spirit and grace. The team only conceded one try for the day.
