Junior School News: Week 6, Term 1, 2019

Last week students reflected on the meaning of Lent during our Ash Wednesday liturgy. Thank you to Ms Cusack, her student liturgy assistants, and to Father David for helping us understand what we can do during Lent to prepare for Easter.

On Friday we enjoyed the Junior School swimming carnival. A huge amount of thanks must go to Mr Fox for his organisation of the day. The fact that these difficult days can run so smoothly is surely a credit to Mr Fox’s preparation for the day and also points to excellent support from staff and parent volunteers. Mr Fox will have information for selected swimmers in regards to the South Weston swimming carnival. Please note that the South Weston swimming carnival has qualifying times so selection does not automatically happen from finishing in the top 4 of the age group.

St John’s First Aid Training – Year 5 students participated in a St John’s First Aid training course to help them understand a little more about dealing with injuries and/or life threatening situations. All three classes took part over the course of Tuesday 12 March.

BOOK FAIR – Today your son visited our book fair with his class and viewed the many books available. He was given the opportunity to fill out a “Wish list” of books he would like to buy. If you are happy for your son to purchase books then please return the “Wish list” form with your receipt number clearly displayed on the back. Your son will then be able to collect his books. (All payments are to be made online. Details are on the Wish list).

The book fair will be open again Thursday and Friday from 8am until the end of lunch for any parents who would like to pop in for a look.

Matt Giteau Cup (Union) – Friday 22 March. Matt Giteau Cup teams are being finalised this week. Students will be informed by Friday.

Junior School Mass – Thursday 28 March. We will be holding a Mass for the Junior School community once a term this year. Parents/carers are most welcome. This Mass is due to begin at 10.00am in the Chapel at school.

ACT Basketball Trials – details available on the School Sport ACT website.

Lost Property – we have a Tupperware aqua drink bottle, green pair of board shorts and red, white and blue beach towel, all from the swimming carnival.
