Junior School News: Week 6, Term 2, 2021

Last week I was fortunate to attend this year’s College Cabaret – what an absolute treat. It was great to see the many Junior School students perform in singing and dancing roles and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance as a whole.

On the weekend we had many rugby fixtures versus Marist College. It was a glorious May day. Many of the matches were hard fought with results coming down to the final minutes. I would like to congratulate our students for their behaviour on the day. At school we spend a lot of time talking with our students about the importance of sportsmanship and it was nice to see us win and lose with grace. To the many parents there, thank you for upholding our school values whilst you spectate and watch your son/s. From what I witnessed at several Junior matches, the vast majority of St Edmund’s spectators were very fair-minded and great supporters of our school – wonderful role models to our boys. It is always disappointing to hear of parent misbehaviour at such events. We can all help each other in this space. If you do see inappropriate behaviour, please notify a Field or Ground Marshall.

Kabuki Workshop (Japanese Play) – On Tuesday 25 May, our Year 4 and Year 6 students were able to participate in and witness a Kabuki Workshop. The session ran for a little over one hour and was enjoyed by all. Thank you to Sensei Leffers for organising this opportunity.

Junior School Assembly – Thursday 27 May at 2.25pm. We look forward to celebrating achievements within the classroom.

South Weston Cross Country – Wednesday 2 June. Students who have qualified have been notified and should have brought a permission form home. A bus will be ready to take students to and from the venue at 8.45am from the Grandstand. Please note parents/carers are welcome to come and watch and may also choose to transport their son. The bus should return to school before lunch.
