Junior School News: Week 8, Term 2, 2019

As we head towards the end of term two, students are working hard to complete assessments and staff are working hard to mark and report on student progress. Semester reports will be available via the parent portal on Thursday or Friday next week.

Year 6 Leadership and Sports Tour – A majority of students in Year 6 will be heading up to another EREA school in Sydney to participate in some sporting fixtures and leadership workshops. This is a new trip for the school and we are hoping to make it a regular fixture on the school calendar. We wish all the boys (and the staff) an enjoyable and rewarding trip.

Woodwork coming home – Keep a look out in your son’s bag for creations from woodwork classes. Year 4 students having been working on workshop safety and basic hand tool use. Year 5 students will be bringing home pencil boxes with special individual designs on the lids from the laser cutter. Year 6 students will commence lessons next term.

Junior School Assembly – Thank you to those parents and grandparents able to make last week’s assembly. There was a great feel amongst the boys and we celebrated many academic achievements. A highlight for me was Mr Bell’s annual balloon car trials video and our presentation of a plaque to Thomas Keillor as the winner for 2019.

ACT Cross Country – Congratulations to Jesse Borghouts who ran fast enough in the zone cross country to participate in the ACT Schools cross country championships. Jesse had a good race and finished about 14th.
