Junior School News: Week 8, Term 3, 2019

Over the last few weeks I have enjoyed attending many co-curricular activities, Saturday Rugby, Football and Tournament of the Minds. At every single one of these events, the sense of community was overwhelming with parents, staff and boys living out one of the Touchstones in the Charter.

Inclusive Community – “Our community is accepting and welcoming, fostering right relationships and committed to the common good”. Our Tournament of the Minds team worked hard to produce a very clever presentation in response to the challenge set.

There is no real break in the co-curricular life of the College and we now have trials for basketball and cricket occurring. The main contacts for these two sports are Andrew Taylor (cricket) ataylor@stedmunds.act.edu.au and David Mead (Basketball) dmead@stedmunds.act.edu.au

Experience Eddies Day – If you know of families thinking of sending their son (currently in Years 3-6) to St Edmund’s next year, please let them know we are hosting our final experience Eddies day for 2019 on Monday 23 September. Details are on the College website.

Singing Blues – Well done to our singing blues for participating in ‘The Big Sing’, a Catholic schools singing celebration held at St John Vianney Primary School in Waramanga.

ACT Athletics Carnival Tuesday 10 September – Well done to all St Edmund’s student who competed at this elite carnival. Congratulations to Thomas Keillor, Jesse James, Jesse Borghouts and Sonny Lauvao who competed on the day.

Gnomes at Floriade – look out for our Gnomes, expertly painted by our Year 6 students. They will be placed in the gnome area on Sunday 15 September in the afternoon.

Junior School Assembly on Friday 20 September at 11.30am – Please join us in the hall to celebrate recent academic achievements of Junior School students.
