Junior School News: Week 9, Term 2, 2020

I have spoken to students this week about the importance of continuing to read over the holidays. Every year we have students who return from breaks who have regressed in their reading progress due to a sustained time away from engaging with books. If you would like your son to borrow some books over the break please ask him to see me and we can arrange for him to borrow suitable material for the break.

On Monday we had several Year 6 students assist with Experience Eddies Day. It was great to see the students helping students from other schools to feel comfortable and happy here at St Edmund’s. It was also nice to see some younger siblings get their first taste of Eddies with their brothers watching on.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our House Leaders from Semester One. Well done to Johnny Ray, Jewel, George, Mose, Max and Wyatt. Whilst these fine young men were robbed of some of the usual events that help give energy to the roles, they were able to assist in running morning prayer, recycling initiatives and offer other help when required. Given the disrupted nature of Semester One, these House Leaders will still be offered some leadership opportunities in Semester Two, along with newly elected Semester Two House Leaders.

The last day of Term 2 is Friday 26 June. During Week 10 teachers will be involved in professional learning on campus. Just a reminder to look out for an email that will detail how to login to Semester One reports.

Team Heat is running a two camps during the break if families are looking for care options. Details below:

St Edmund’s College Junior School will be hosting Team H.E.A.T holiday programs in the upcoming school holidays. The first will be held on Thursday July 2 & Friday July 3 (Week 10). The second will be held across three days on Monday July 13, Tuesday July 14 & Wednesday July 15. Enrolments are open to boys and girls aged between 7-12.
