Kicking Goals in Semester 2

The start of a new semester brings an opportunity to reflect on the successes and challenges of Semester 1, 2020. During House Meetings and tutor time, students are being asked to consider the goals they want to set for themselves this semester, in all areas of their life. The St Edmund’s College Statement of Pride, introduced during our Assembly in Week 1, provides us with a framework to reflect on our contribution to both the College and broader community. By contributing to a constructive learning environment and meeting College expectations, students can take control of their study, co-curricular and service and make deliberate choices in these areas.

Whether it be improving an effort grade in a challenging subject, committing to a fitness plan to improve stamina on game day or learning a new song on the guitar, deliberate measureable steps towards a goal help remind us we can make small choices on a daily basis. These choices add up, providing a sense of accomplishment and personal pride when goals are achieved.

2020 has been an unusual year and now, more than ever, it’s important to recognise there are aspects of our lives we can control and steps we can take to improve our individual circumstances. Goal setting is not just another box to tick or task to do, it is a tangible approach to improving personal wellbeing.
