National Tourette’s Awareness Week

St Edmund’s College celebrated National Tourette’s Awareness week on Friday 6th May through participation in TAC’TICs. TAC’TICs is a scavenger hunt activity that has been designed by the Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia. It aims to directly support the education and awareness of children living with Tourette Syndrome in schools throughout Australia.

Two Year 8 PE classes enthusiastically participated in the activity and learned a lot about what it might be like to live with TS on a daily basis. Rather than defining students by their learning difficulties, activities like this are used to raise awareness of all students that face challenges.  The boys were amazing during the day and demonstrated a true understanding of what it is like to live with learning challenges.
