Retreats Return

Tuesday and Wednesday of last week our year 7 and year 8 cohorts participated in a school retreat for the day. It has been a few years since we have been able to organise this because of covid. It was so great to see both year levels being so inclusive of each other.

Why do we have retreats at St Edmunds?

  • Retreats allow boys a chance to build a sense of community with their school that goes beyond the classroom.
  • It gives students a chance to disconnect from their mobile phone devices, academic pressures, and participate with their year level.
  • Offers a chance to make new friends in their year level.
  • Have fun with their friends through fun games and activities.
  • Students learn from other students and they can positively help to shape each other’s view on life.
  • Retreat and reflection days form part of the distinctive character of Catholic schools. They recognise the individuality and dignity of each student by fostering their unique potential and spirituality. These occasions are a call for reflection where prayer, liturgy and scripture are a key part of the experience.

These are a few reasons why these opportunities are good for our boys of all year levels. In fact, these are a good option for parents and families who need a break from their routine. To retreat from the norm, be together and learn together is a powerful bonding tool that builds connectedness and a sense of belonging amongst our boys. Thank you to the staff who assisted in enabling these days to happen.
