Rugby News: Week 7, Term 1, 2020

As per the email you would have received today from Mr Zavone, all co-curricular activities at the College have been cancelled until further notice. This means all Rugby training is cancelled until further notice.

At this stage there has been a directive sent out from Rugby Australia of no play or no train to 1st of May.

Understanding that our competition start  date is post this date, without training prior and a duty of care to the players, the ACTJRU  will look at a revised date to the commencement of the competition.

New trial dates will be set for rep trials and information will be sent out as we receive it.

It goes without saying that the situation around COVID-19 is both complex and fast moving so please be patient as the situation is quite likely to change again.

I will endeavour to communicate information as soon as it comes to hand re. the ACTJRU 2020 season.

There is hope that training may be able to recommence prior to this date, but that will be dependent on many factors and will be guided and await direction from RA and Brumbies along with that of Government all of whom are constantly monitoring the situation.

In addition, the SEC  Sports dinner for the 27th March has also had to be cancelled.

Please note the following:

  • It is vital that you still register your son ASAP.  We are still moving forward with the administrative side of things and need to confirm numbers and teams with the ACT JRU so that draws can be made.
  • If, worst case scenario, there is no season, the ACTJRU will refund registration.
  • The referee course has been postponed until further notice
  • The volunteer information evening is on this week in Waterford room, starting at 5.30pm.

Thank you for your patience, this is a trying time for all concerned, particularly the boys who just want to get out there and play the game they love.
