Upcoming events in Creative and Performing Arts

Term 3 in the Creative and Performing Arts area is traditionally slow in terms of public performances and presentations and this year has been no different. Although there is not a much to see on the surface underneath the departments are paddling away preparing for a big term 4.

At the start of Term 4 the Combined College Band have their annual band camp, followed in week 2 by the Big Band Bash. This is the tentpole event in the combined bands calendar, all of the hard work and effort is showcased at the Big Band Bash, this year held on 26 October in the College hall.

Shortly after that, we have the Creative and Performing Arts week where the Year 11 & 12 Drama, Music, Art and Media boys will be performing and displaying the work they have been working on all semester. This will be taking place in week 5 with Drama performances taking place on Monday 12, Music performances on Tuesday 13 and on Wednesday 14 the TAS department and Art department will be having their evening of work on display. During the rest of the week Media productions will be on display in the PAC.

In week 16 the year 10 extended class will be presenting the complete works of Shakespeare in around 70 minutes. The last item in Term 4 (other than class assessments) will be the College Christmas Concert, which will be a celebration of Christmas with performances from the Year 9 Drama class, music students and the junior school plus a very special guest.

A busy end to the year but one which will bring plenty of performance opportunities for the Creative and Performing Arts department.
