Writer’s Toolbox–4 Months of progress

This year, Year 7 and 8 have been working in 4 Faculties – English, HASS, RE and Science – on the Writer’s Toolbox. This program endeavours to improve the writing skills of the boys. Below is a snapshot of how the boys are progressing with the program over just 4 months:

As you can see, the words the boys have written is amazing, with 606,000 written over 4 months! When writing, the boys can seek feedback via an AI tool which helps them to improve their writing piece, and as listed above feedback has been sought over 13,000 times from our boys. This program explicitly teachers the boys how to write, giving them various sentence styles to use as well as different paragraphs for different contexts. The daily challenge, which can only take 10 minutes, is a great opportunity for the boys to keep practicing. This term, the Junior School have also jumped into the program and the National Writing Coach, Rob Tall, worked with Year 4 boys and their teachers on writing short stories.

Boys can also use this program to construct their assessment items, gaining feedback along the way. Please ask your sons to show you the program and what they have been working on.
