The Careers Adviser provides students with careers counselling, as well as providing a wide range of current information and advice to maximise their career and further study options.
The role of the Careers Adviser can be summed up as follows:
- Helping senior students select the right subjects for their immediate future
- Providing students with work experience opportunities and visits to Careers Expos
- Coordinating the Annual St Edmund’s College Career Information Night with over 60+ stallholders, a large majority of which are Old Boys and parents providing advice and networking opportunities for students
- Providing guidance to students and parents about post-school options
- Maintaining great connections with employers (many of whom are college Old Boys) and tertiary educational providers
- Working closely with the college VET Coordinator to maximise opportunities for potential tradesmen and employees
- Liaison with UAC, Universities (ACT and interstate), CIT, AIE, Industry groups and employers
- Facilitation of visiting speakers – tertiary institutions and faculties, CIT, MBA, industry groups and employers, Defence Force Recruiting
- Work Experience preparation and program for Years 10-12
- Assistance in resume writing and building of interview skills
