Old Boys and Friends

With a history spanning nearly 70 years, the Old Boys & Friends Association would like to encourage all Old Boys & Friends of St Edmund’s College to remain involved in the College community, attend College activities and stay in touch or locate lost friends.

Each year, Old Boys & Friends hosts four major community events with the support of the College: the Blue and White Ball, Heritage Round and Golf Day. More information can be found below.

Old Boys & Friends Association Objectives

  • Facilitate an ongoing relationship within the greater college community, and establish and maintain a sense of belonging and inclusiveness to St Edmund’s College Canberra
  • Encourage social interaction between its members and the college community, inclusive of the facilitation of College reunions
  • Preserve, promote and strengthen the ideals, traditions, and history of the College
  • Raise the level of pride in being an Eddies Old Boy
  • Raise the level of pride and awareness amongst current students that former students and friends are involved in the school community

Key Events 2024

  • Blue and White Ball
  • Heritage Round
  • Eddies Golf Day

We are excited to bring you four major events again this year with the support of the College. Everyone within the Eddies community is invited to these events, which are a great opportunity to get involved in the community, as well as meet new people. This year the Blue & White Ball and Heritage Round/Reunion Day will be held on the same weekend –  a great opportunity for the Eddies community to come together at both events.

Please note as with all Old Boys & Friends Association events, a portion of funds raised is donated to those in need through the College Foundation. For further information on these events please email the college at development@sec.act.edu.au.

Blue & White Ball  – 2 August 2024 at the Hotel Realm –

This is a fantastic night of entertainment for the Eddies community and gets bigger and better each year. We will promote the event on our social media pages, and in the College newsletter. Stay tuned for more information!

Heritage Round / Reunion Day – Saturday 3 August at St Edmund’s College

This event coincides with the Eddies v Marist rugby matches and is an opportunity to reflect on the heritage of the College, as well as a day that old boys are encouraged to attend and reunite. The day will commence with a Mass at 10am in the College Chapel. This will be followed by a morning tea at 11am and a tour of the College and an opportunity to watch the rugby.

Eddies Golf Day – Friday 2 November, Fairbairn Golf Club

This is the final event for 2023 celebrating the Eddies community. This is a 9-hole four-person Ambrose event commencing with a complimentary lunch from 2pm and a 3pm shot-gun tee-off, followed by a presentation of prizes in the clubhouse from 5pm. No golfing experience is required, just a willingness to have fun.

There will also be an informal afternoon tea and a presentation of prizes in the clubhouse commencing from about 5:00pm.

Teams can also be organised on the day.

Golf carts are available for hire through the Fairbairn Golf Club on Phone 02 6257 9000
