AST – Preparation and Sitting, 2020

Year 12 ATAR seeking students will begin their final preparations for the AST on Friday 28 August with a Preparation Day. This full day workshop has been designed to provide guidance and advice to the boys on the various components of each test with a number of specialist teachers facilitating each session.

The Preparation Day begins with some light refreshments in the Edmund Rice Centre at 8.30am with the program starting at 9.00am. Morning tea and lunch will also be provided and the boys are reminded that it is a non-uniform day for those involved.

The AST itself will take place on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September at the College with AST students invited to arrive at 8.00am on each day for breakfast in the Library before moving to the Edmund Rice Centre at 8.50am. It is essential that each student sitting the AST bring their school ID each day and arrive in plenty of time to be seated. Candidates will not be granted entry to any exam 30 minutes after it commences.

If on the day you feel unwell it is strongly advised that you do not sit the test. A doctor’s medical certificate must be obtained within the first 24hrs, except in exceptional circumstances, of the missed test to qualify for entry into the 2nd sitting in October. Pharmacy certificates are not accepted.

Where a test is missed due to serious misadventure, official and independent documentation of the event must be provided as soon as possible as to apply for the 2nd sitting.

Students who have been granted Special Provisions by the Board of Senior Secondary Studies for the AST will have received details regarding the provisions provided to them and will be completing their tests in room 438. All details regarding arrival and meeting places remain the same.

The College would like to wish all of the boys well in their final preparations and in the AST proper and know each will prepare with focus and apply their best efforts.
