Captain’s Corner

Hi, I’m Harvey, your proud Captain of the one and only Clancy house. Since being nominated in this position I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the dedication and spirit of our community from a different set of eyes. One of the themes that the boys have embodied this year has been raising the bar. At Eddies, raising the bar doesn’t literally mean lifting a bar. Raising the bar means as Eddies boys we strive for excellence in all areas, from academics to the sporting field and everywhere in between and so far in 2024 every single young Eddies man has Raised their bar.

Being a better person is at the core of what it means to be an Eddies boy. It’s about expressing the values that the statement of Eddie’s pride possesses. We are encouraged to reflect on our actions and their impact on others. It’s not always easy, but the journey towards self-improvement is a rewarding one. By raising the bar, we not only grow individually but also grow those around us.

One of the hallmarks of our school is the sense of camaraderie and brotherhood among students. The brotherhood we share from being inside the walls of a classroom to embarking with your teammates on the field we are bound together as brothers. This culture of care and empathy creates a strong, unified community where everyone feels valued and supported.

What being an Eddie’s boy means to me is that no matter what situation you may face, there is a sea of blue and white behind you to support you. It means when you wear the crest you feel this unwavering sense of pride in our school. It has also been a privilege to represent St Edmunds college on the rugby field playing for the first XV and this is part of the reason I have fallen in love with becoming an Eddie’s boy. We are ambassadors of the values and traditions that have been passed down through generations, and it is our responsibility to uphold what it means to be an Eddie’s boy.

Thank you for reading my article and Edmunds to the Fore!!!
