Junior School News: Week 6, Term 1, 2018

Last Friday we held our annual Junior School swimming carnival. I was most impressed with the number of students who took up the challenge of competing, participating and cheering for their house. There was a wonderful atmosphere out at Queanbeyan pool and it was great to see our new Principal, Mr Zavone, who came along to show his support for the boys. It is a great credit to Mr Fox that all boys, regardless of swimming ability, were able to participate in and enjoy the day. Thank you to all of the parents and relatives who were there to cheer on the boys and also to those who were able to lend a hand as timekeepers. Congratulations to Haydon House for accumulating the most house points on the day. Mr Fox will soon notify students who have qualified to represent St Edmund’s at the South Weston swimming carnival.

Year 5 students have participated in a St John’s First Aid program aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge of what to do in a first aid situation. This program is aimed at the age group and the students enjoyed themselves.

Application Grade Rubrics

Your son’s class teacher has assessed his general effort and application. A rubric detailing his results should be viewable on Canvas. Please contact your teacher if you have any questions relating to this.

Junior School Assembly – Friday 16 March @11.30am in the Hall

Please come along and join us for our first Junior School academic assembly for 2018. Some light refreshments will be provided afterwards if you would like to stay for a chat.

Junior School Athletics Carnival – Friday 23 March at the College

Please note that on this day students will participate in our athletics carnival. All students will compete in the sprinting and novelty events and a number of students will be selected from P.E class results to compete in the field events. Unfortunately, I will be away during this event at the Edmund Rice Education Australia Primary School Heads Conference in Sydney. I apologise for my absence at this community event but I am confident Mr Fox will coordinate another fantastic day, ably supported by Junior School staff members.
