Junior School News: Week 7, Term 2, 2018

This Thursday we will celebrate our Junior School assembly. During this assembly, we will present various students with awards for their academic efforts over the last few weeks. We will also see some ‘learning in action’ and hear from our Junior School Leaders. It will also be an occasion where we recognise students who have made an ACT Representative side during semester one in their chosen sport. I have included a brief summary of students selected below. Apologies for any omissions. Compiling these lists is always fraught with danger given the many different avenues for us to find out about such selections.

ACT Selections – Congratulations

ACT Swimming – Blake Biddell, Jesse Borghouts, Bailey Sullivan

ACT Hockey – Monty Green

ACT Rugby League – Jonah Anderson

ACT Rugby Union (Brumbies U12) – Asomuamua Malae, Liam Collett, Billy Lachlan, Henry Meggitt, Dominic Pickering, Mackai Reedy, Po’aloi Tuala, BJ Darmody.

ACT Ice Hockey – JJ Beere

ACT Oz-Tag – Billy Lachlan, BJ Darmody

NSW Oz-Tag (State of Origin) – BJ Darmody

ACT Basketball – BJ Fitzpatrick

Staffing News

We are nearing the time where we will farewell one of our year 6 teachers, Mr Tom Pilkinton. Mr Pilkinton is heading overseas to teach in London, England. The students in 6 Blue will miss his quick wit and lengthy anecdotes about important moments in history. He has been a terrific addition to the teaching staff in his short time with us and will be missed. During Week 9, Mrs Holly Ellem will spend time with 6 Blue and Mr Pilkinton for a thorough handover. Mrs Ellem will assume responsibility for the class from the end of term two. An opportunity for parents/guardians to come and meet Mrs Ellem will be held at the beginning of term three.

Message from our outgoing Year 6 Leaders

We are really excited to have served our peers as Junior School leaders in semester one and wish to thank everyone for their support. We have grown in our leadership and have enjoyed running school assemblies and promoting school activities. This week’s Junior School assembly will be our last public appearance as leaders and we want to wish those students selected as semester two leaders all the best.

From Owen Wyatt (6 Gold), Nicholas Paras (6 White) and Thomas Norris (6 Blue)
