Junior School News: Week 7 Term 2, 2022

On one of the coldest evenings of 2022, we were able to finally hold our welcome to St Edmund’s function for new families. Given the weather and necessary timing, it was not surprising that we had a smaller gathering than in previous years. Those who did make it were rewarded with some terrific food and beverages prepared and served by our very own students and staff from our Hospitality department. It was lovely to speak with some of our newest families and seek feedback on their son’s start to St Edmund’s. We look forward to more community events on the calendar such as the EdMums evening and Blue and White Ball.

EdMums Evening – Friday 10 June. 6pm-9pm.

Sacramental Program – Congratulations to three Junior School students, Patrick Bond, Alexander Bond and Brax Chignell who were Baptised at the Chapel after school yesterday and to the 30-odd students receiving other sacraments at St Christopher’s Cathedral next Tuesday. This is the second year that the school has offered these opportunities. We wish those students making their Sacraments all the best.

Brumbies Primary Schools Championships – We wish our Year 4 team and one of our 5/6 teams all the best as they play against other ACT and NSW primary schools for the chance to become the Brumbies Primary School champions on Friday. These two teams qualified for the finals through their performances at the Matt Giteau Cup. Thanks to Mr Boswell and Mr Fox for coaching the teams this Friday.

Bottle Recycling Drive – Our bottle drive is in full swing. Please feel free to send your plastic bottles in for us to recycle and raise money for the school. Thank you to Ms Cusack for organising and well done to Year 5 as a whole for bringing in 311 bottles last week.

Sun Smart News – Please note students are not required to wear a hat at recess, lunch and PE lessons from this week as we move into Winter.
