Junior School News: Week 8, Term 1, 2019

Junior School News Term 1 Week 8

This week we look forward to our Junior School Mass (Thursday) and our Junior School Athletics Carnival (Friday). The theme for our Mass is ‘Celebrating Junior School’. We are very fortunate to essentially be a primary school with access to high school resources. Despite being part of a 4-12 College, there are many things that make Junior School special and we plan to celebrate these during our Mass on Thursday. All parents and carers are most welcome to attend. The Mass will begin at 10.00am in the Chapel (28 March). This week we had a terrific Year 4 Science Day, expertly planned by our Year 4 teaching team, with input from our Science faculty. Junior School students were able to witness demonstrations and participate in a range of experiments and model making. On Friday, students will participate in the Junior School athletics carnival. Thank you to Mr Fox, staff, and our Year 12 students who will help make it a great day of participation, competition and fun.

Book Fair Summary – Thank you to all parents who have supported our book fair. It was a resounding success and as a result we now have $350 to spend on new books for our library. Thank you to Mrs Larkin for her organisation of this event.

LIBRARY OVERDUES- A friendly reminder! – A number of boys have overdue books from 2018. I (Mrs Larkin) have spoken to every class in the Junior School and have asked them to search for these books. Please encourage your son to have a thorough look at home so we can have these books returned to the Library.

South Weston Swimming Carnival Thursday 4 April, AIS Pool. Good luck to the students who have been selected to swim for St Edmund’s at the regional carnival. It is the largest team we have sent in recent memory with 26 students qualifying to swim.
