Year 11 Retreat Day: Leadership and Our Calling

Year 11 Retreat Day: Leadership and Our Calling

On Thursday, 29th August, Year 11 students participated in their Retreat Day. The day began with speeches from their peers, who were vying for the positions of College Captain and Vice-Captain. These speeches were exceptional, filled with passion and a clear desire to lead. It was inspiring to witness the boys’ commitment to the future of the College, which set a positive tone for the rest of the day.

The retreat focused on the College Touchstones and invited the boys to reflect on how they can embody these values as they prepare to become the leaders of Year 12 in 2025. Throughout the day, the students heard about various individuals who exemplify the Touchstones: Liberating Education, Justice and Solidarity, Inclusive Community, and Gospel Spirituality. Mr. Masters spoke to the boys about the importance of being part of a team and emphasised that each person has a role to play. He also referenced some of the legendary figures who have walked through the doors of the College, connecting their legacy to the present.

We concluded the day with a Liturgy of the Word, encouraging the boys to reflect on what they had heard and consider how they can take action moving forward. Each student was invited to choose a Touchstone they will focus on as they enter their final year at St Edmund’s College.

A special thanks to all teachers who assisted on the day!
