Year 12 Rites of Passage

A Celebration of Milestones and Memories

As Year 12 students bid farewell to their school days, the final week was packed with joy, reflection, and laughter, creating memories to cherish forever. From shared lunches to emotional farewells, each event marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.

The week kicked off with a longstanding tradition—lunch with St Clare’s. The two schools came together, not just to share food but to reflect on their years of camaraderie and shared experiences.

The Old Boys’ Breakfast, a cherished tradition, brought together the graduating class and alumni who once walked the same halls. Over a hearty meal, Year 12 students listened to inspiring stories of life beyond school, fostering a sense of camaraderie between generations and highlighting the strength and enduring legacy of the school community.

The Liturgy and shirt-signing ceremony followed, where students gathered to express gratitude, celebrate their achievements, and seek blessings for the road ahead. Where every signature symbolised, a bond formed, a memory shared, or a wish for the future. Students took turns writing heartfelt notes and inside jokes, leaving their mark on their peers’ shirts—an artifact of their school journey.

In a classic display of Year 12 spirit, the much-anticipated water fight brought the campus alive with shrieks and splashes. Armed with water balloons and squirt guns, students turned the grounds into a battlefield of pure fun. Teachers cautiously kept their distance, although a few were brave enough to join in the chaos, much to the delight of the students.

The week concluded with house farewells, offering an emotional goodbye to the close-knit communities within the school. Each house came together to celebrate its achievements, share cherished memories, and give a heartfelt send-off to its Year 12 students. These gatherings were filled with laughter, a few tears, and an overwhelming sense of pride as the graduating class spent their final moments at the college.

Rites of passage week was more than a series of events; it was a celebration of friendships, lessons learned, and the journey that brought them to this point. To the Class of 2024: congratulations, good luck, and thank you for leaving behind a legacy that will inspire the classes to come.
