Captain’s Corner

The First Week back was a strong start for the New Semester. Students arrived at the college after a much-needed break, returning to their school-work and immersing themselves within College life.

This first week back was a time to reflect on one’s education.  Throughout the holidays, students had time to consider the results of their school report. With Week 1 marking a brand-new semester, this opened opportunities for many to set goals for the term ahead. ‘Smart Goals’ is a system of goal setting that the College encourages, where students are asked to create goals that are Specific, Measurable Achievable, Relevant, and Timed.  To fulfill these goals set during Week 1, there are a variety of college resources to utilise.  I would recommend students take advantage of the great system the staff have set up to help and support students–especially if you need to find motivation or begin to fall behind work as the term progresses. This may include attending tutoring sessions or speaking one-on-one with your teachers. For Year 12, Week 1 marked the beginning of their final semester, with preparation for events such as AST, formal, and graduation in full motion.

On Friday, the college held an assembly for NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC Week is a significant event, celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.  Further, the assembly explored the House Spirit guides established by the College in 2020.  This exploration, done through a speech prepared by the House Captains, demonstrated to students how the qualities of these spirit guides could be found within their own Houses.

Term 3 is already showing itself to be an extremely busy period for the College. I hope every student started the Term off strong, so that they may follow this momentum for the rest of the Semester.
