Cricket Season 2018/19 Information

Earlier this year a meeting was held by members of the cricket community to get input and consider ways to improve cricket at the College. Through several subsequent meetings between Deb Clayton-Baker and Anne Rhodes a plan was formulated, and presented to the St Edmund’s cricket community on Tuesday night, as part of the 2018/19 season launch. The turnout was tremendous, with students of all ages and their parents in attendance. We heard about an exciting new coaching program developed by Deb Clayton-Baker who is taking up the newly created role of coaching co-ordinator, Trinsec – a preseason fixture with Trinity College in Goulburn, Junior School cricket afternoons and a House Cricket Shield to be contested at the end of Term 3 as part of pre-season preparations. We also heard about another Pink Stumps Charity match planned for next year, which has received support from the McGrath Foundation.

Player registrations are now open and can be completed here: https://playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details?Id=15682. We are also looking for parents who are able to contribute as team coach or manager, or in the capacity of scorer/umpire, or in any other way to the newly formed cricket committee. In particular we are seeking anyone who can offer coaching expertise but can’t necessarily commit to twice weekly trainings as well as managing a team on Saturday. If you are able to help out, please contact me (Andrew Taylor, Cricket Co-ordinator) – antaylor@stedmunds.act.edu.au. Also, anyone wishing to stay up to date with cricket news should join our new team app – https://stedmundscollegecricket.teamapp.com/ . This will be the main means of important communication for players and parents. It can be signed up to for free and is available on the web and as an app for both apple and android phones.
