Darwin and Tiwi Islands Mission Trip Recap

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith.” – Timothy 4:12

Last week a group of St Edmund’s students and teachers ventured to the top end to run Youth Ministry retreats in three Catholic Colleges. This annual mission trip was the eighth time the College had travelled north to share their faith with the students of St Johns College Darwin, O’Loughlin College Darwin and St Francis Xavier College Bathurst Island. The week-long adventure invited our boys to lead other young people in activities and talks where all participants contemplated and questioned where God is in their lives.

Our boys in Aryan Sachdeva, James Tually, Justin Teng, Lachlan Hayes, Matthew Brown coupled with recent graduates Gerard Teng (2017), Sam Stubbs (St Edmund’s Youth Minister) grew and developed their faith whilst providing a platform for other young people to grow theirs. The overwhelming learning from our boys that was shared in our last reflection time was that having faith in God takes you on a special journey and that makes all the difference.

A big thanks to Tom Zinkel (staff) who was a huge support not only in supervising the students but supporting them to grow as people and to grow in their faith. It was also a blessing having Gerard Teng and Sam Stubbs on the trip as they provided a great example for our boys to follow in witness to their faith.
