Football Preseason Games

Preseason games-

We have had three competitions that the boys have participated in over the holiday period.

EREA tournament

Our U18s Opens team flew to Brisbane under the guidance of Jonathan Hall, Matt McDonald and recent graduate Aidan Rhodes. Their full itinerary gave them opportunity to work together and play against some of the best football teams from Edmund Rice schools across Australia. Despite the end result of the competition, our boys played well and held their heads up high. Every year our boys participate in the EREA tournament, it is not only a wonderful opportunity for preseason competition, but it is an invaluable opportunity for our boys to meet and learn from their fellow Edmund Rice brothers. Thank you to Mr Jonathan Hall, Matt McDonald and Aidan for organizing the tour and accommodating our boys so well.

Stellar Lightning Round

Also during the first weekend of the holidays, we had two teams participate in the Stellar Competition run by Woden Weston FC. A full day of back to back matches, each with its own challenges, learnings and achievements. Our U14s and U15s did exceptionally well as they met other teams from across Canberra and regional areas in NSW. Our U14s had some very close calls but gave their all!

Our U15s were victorious at the end of the day and walked away with the shield. A phenomenal effort and one that must be celebrated by not only the team but the Eddies community.

Thank you to all parents and friends who came out to support the boys. Thank you also to team managers Trish Church and Georgie McGrath as well as the wonderful coaches Arnold Choi and Lucas Fairhall. We look forward to participating in many other tournaments this year for all our age groups.

MARSEC- St Edmund’s College Vs. Marist College

On the final weekend of the holidays, all of our football teams participated in the annual competition against Marist. All year groups with the exception of the U18s team were friendly games while our First XI competed for the shield. Each of our teams played exceptionally well on Sunday. With the sun shining, as was our Eddies spirit as they all worked so well together and in such a positive spirit. We didn’t walk away with the shield this year, but next year we are very much looking forward to hosting it on home ground and an opportunity to win the shield. Thank you to all families, friends and staff who supported the boys on the day.
