Industry Ready!

VET Overview Term 3

Term 3 has witnessed the largest number of students in the past 8 years participating in the General Construction Induction Training (White Card) and Asbestos Awareness Training. With over 30 students getting industry ready, these students are equipped with the necessary knowledge and training to keep them safe when entering the trade industry, capable of assessing risk, hazardous materials and identifying hazardous and potentially dangerous situations. Both qualifications are the base line requirement when engaging in work experience in the trade industry and when undertaking an Australian School Based Apprenticeship (ASBA).

In the woodwork room this term our Year 12 Furniture class are building a Brian Reid Wall Cabinet and the token Year 12 Dovetail Pencil box which is engraved with the laser cutter and coated with varnish or oil.

In the kitchen our senior students are trying their hand at improving their Italian cuisine and practice and presenting of sandwiches. This semesters theory unit is Hospitality Management, where students design a café space for St Edmund’s and enter the world of everything coffee.

In the gym our Fitness in Sport students have been putting the fitness instructor caps on, focusing delivering an exercise plan, workplace health and safety, anatomy and physiology and providing superior customer service in the gym environment.
