I hope all of our Junior School families enjoyed their Reconciliation Day public holiday. On Tuesday, our students returned, refreshed and ready to tackle a demanding few weeks of learning, assessment and study. Whilst our high school students will begin formal exams soon, our Junior School assessment over this period is more varied. This is a timely reminder that the school runs a homework club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Junior School library for any boys needing some time to complete their homework or assignments. Last Friday’s Junior School assembly was a terrific celebration of student success and reward for effort. It was great to see action from the balloon car race heats, hear some brilliant poems from the Year 6 students and see students receive academic awards. Without a doubt, though, the highlight of the assembly was the Singing Blues Junior School choir. They performed a jaw-dropping Beatles melody and are to be congratulated on their efforts. Mr Zavone was very impressed! I look forward to seeing them perform again at tomorrow night’s Cabaret.
Today Junior School students met in Houses to discuss the College Walkathon which promises to be a wonderful community event. The walkathon will occur next term. Junior School will complete an abbreviated course from school down to the lake and back. Students may wear casual clothes to this event.
Good luck to our cross country team who will compete in the South Weston regional carnival next Monday.
