Junior School News: Week 6, Term 3, 2019

Last week our Year 5 students had a wonderful time at camp down at Tuross Heads, on the South Coast of New South Wales. Thanks to Mr Bell, Ms Cusack, Mr O’Rourke and our parent helpers, Steve Forbes and Michael Crozier, for taking time away from their families to enable the camp to take place. The feedback from Tuross about the boys’ behaviour has been outstanding.

Father’s Day Mass

This year this event is whole school and all fathers/grandfathers and guardians are most welcome. Mass will be celebrated in the College Chapel on Friday 30 August at approximately 9.20am and morning tea will be served after Mass. Thank you to all who have registered and we look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Book week – ‘Reading is my secret power’

We held a very successful costume parade on Friday 23 August in the Hall from 9.20am – 10.00am. f Junior School students enjoyed voting for their favourite book themed cakes after the parade. The cakes were made by our High School students and it was great to have them involved. Many hours of preparation go into organising events such as this so we would like to acknowledge the efforts of Mrs Larkin, Mrs Jarman, Ms Cusack and Mrs Gray.

South Weston Athletics Carnival – Congratulations to Sonny Lauvao (4th U10 Discus), Thomas Keillor (2nd U10 Shot Put) and Jesse Borghouts (3rd – U11 800m). These boys will go on to represent the South Weston zone at the ACT carnival on 10 September.

Homework Club – Mrs Ellem will be running homework club from Weeks 2-9 this term on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. Please email her hellem@stedmunds.act.edu.au with a day’s notice should you wish to book your son/s in, along with the work you would like your son to work on.
