Junior School News: Week 7, Term 1, 2021

Last Thursday we enjoyed the first formal Junior School academic assembly for the year. Congratulations to all of the students who received certificates and to those that assisted with leadership, speaking and presenting roles. On Friday, we were able to hear from college Vice Captain Eden Mordike. Eden spoke powerfully about the role of women in our lives and respectful relationships. His speech is well worth a read and should be available in the Captain’s Corner of Vortex this week.

Also on Friday we held our first Buddy session for the Year with the whole of Year 12 teaming up with different year groups in Junior School. The focus of the session was on friendship and there was a definite buzz in Junior School for the hour or so the program ran. The Junior boys can look forward to more session with their buddy throughout 2021.

MacqLit (literacy) and Quicksmart (numeracy) classes have begun and students selected are now well into these programs. Students are selected based on our own internal testing and teacher input. If you have any questions regarding these programs please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Tessa Zarb  or Mrs Lisa Millar on 6239 0626.

There will be three options (1) a hotdog, juice and chips, (2) cruiser pie, juice and chips, (3) 6 nuggets, juice and chips (gluten free option). We are asking for a cash payment for this as setting up an online option has not proven time efficient.
